New Delhi, January 30 (HS): Approval has been given to prosecute former public servant RK Mahajan in the CBI case related to the Land for Job scam. On Thursday, the CBI informed the Rouse Avenue Court about this. After this information from the CBI, Special Judge Vishal Gogne ordered the next hearing on the matter of taking cognizance of the charge sheet on February 7.

During the hearing, the CBI said that along with RK Mahajan, approval has been given for prosecution against all the former public servants accused in the case. The CBI had said on 26 November 2024 that approval has been given to prosecute 30 government employees. On 20 September 2024, the CBI had said that the Home Ministry has given permission to prosecute Lalu Yadav. The CBI had filed the final chargesheet in this case on 7 June 2024 in which 78 people have been made accused. Out of these 78 accused, 38 candidates who got jobs in the railways are also included. In the ED case, the court took cognizance of the first supplementary chargesheet on 18 September 2024 and issued summons to seven accused including Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav to appear in the court. In the ED case, on 7 March 2024, the court granted regular bail to Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, Heema Yadav and Hridayananda Chaudhary. In the ED case, the High Court has granted bail to accused Amit Katyal.

In this case, before ED, the CBI had registered a case. In the case related to CBI, the court granted bail to Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi on 4 October 2023. The court took cognizance of the second chargesheet filed by the CBI on 22 September 2023. On July 3, 2023, the CBI filed a supplementary chargesheet. On February 27, 2023, the court took cognizance of the chargesheet filed against all the accused including these three accused. On October 7, 2022, the CBI filed a chargesheet against 16 accused including Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi and Misa Bharti in the Land for Job case.
