Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh), 20 January (HS): The National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) on Monday successfully completed the Arunachal Pradesh phase of the historic Brahmaputra River rafting expedition. This river, known as Siang in Arunachal, is famous for its intensity and unpredictable currents.

Out of the total 916 km plan, the team has so far completed a dangerous journey of 240 km. This journey is from Gelling to Tuting, which is known for grade 4 and 5 rapids. This part is considered to be one of the most difficult and dangerous rafting challenges ever. The special thing is that this expedition is the first attempt to cross the entire Arunachal and Assam part of the Brahmaputra River by rafting.

The team was warmly welcomed by the members of the Water Sports Association including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of the former Siang district in Pasighat. He congratulated the team for their adventurous journey and historic achievement.

Col RS Jamwal, Director NIMAS said that this expedition is not just about adventure but symbolizes overcoming fear and crossing new frontiers. The team's perseverance in crossing the deadly currents of Siang reflects the true spirit of NIMAS.

After successfully completing the Arunachal leg, the team is now set to cross the next part of the Brahmaputra in Assam, where new dangers await them in the form of huge currents and complex routes of the river.

This historic expedition is a testimony to human perseverance and a celebration of the unique beauty and power of India's rivers.
