Bhubaneswar, 15 January (H.S.): The paddy procurement process for the current Kharif season is progressing smoothly across Odisha.
The state government has directed all officials to maintain strict vigilance at procurement centres (mandis) to ensure a transparent and efficient process. District administrations have implemented extensive measures to address potential challenges and ensure that no eligible farmer encounters difficulties during procurement.
To assist farmers, additional arrangements have been made in the mandis, including the deployment of sufficient personnel. According to an official press release, 3,893 nodal officers have been appointed for 3,903 mandis across the state, along with 1,031 supervisors, each overseeing two to three mandis.
District administrations are also appointing additional officers as needed to tackle emerging issues. These officials actively monitor the mandis and address farmers' concerns. Dedicated grievance mechanisms have been established to allow farmers to report problems directly.
The procurement process involves purchasing paddy from registered farmers at a minimum support price of ₹2,300 per quintal, with an additional input assistance of ₹800 per quintal.
The government remains committed to ensuring fair practices and timely support for the farming community during the ongoing procurement season.
