New Delhi, January 14 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate three leading warships of the Navy (INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vagsheer) to the nation at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra on January 15. The Prime Minister will dedicate three leading warships of the Navy, INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vagsheer to the nation at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai at around 10:30 am. After this, at around 3:30 pm, he will inaugurate the ISKCON temple in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.
The launch of three major naval warships is an important leap towards realizing India's dream of becoming a global leader in defense manufacturing and maritime security. INS Surat, the fourth and last ship of the P15B guided missile destroyer project, is one of the largest and most sophisticated destroyers in the world. It has 75 per cent indigenous content and is equipped with a state-of-the-art weapon-sensor package and advanced network-centric capabilities. INS Nilgiri, the first ship of the P17A stealth frigate project, is designed by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau and includes advanced features for enhanced survivability, seaworthiness and stealth, signifying the next generation of indigenous frigates. INS Vagsheer, the sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene project, represents India's growing expertise in submarine construction and has been built in collaboration with Naval Group of France.
According to the statement, in line with his commitment to promote India's cultural heritage, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, a project of ISKCON at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai. Spread over nine acres, the project includes a temple with multiple deities, a Vedic education center, proposed museum and auditorium, healing centers, etc. It aims to promote universal brotherhood, peace and harmony through Vedic teachings.
