Kolkata, 1 August (H.S.):

After an order to allow entry of two, three and four wheelers of students and parents in the school premises in exchange of money in IIM Joka Kendriya Vidyalaya, angry parents blocked National Highway 117 on Diamond Harbor Road on Thursday morning.

Long queues of vehicles were formed on the road due to the protest of angry parents. On information, the police from Thakurpukur and Haridevpur police station and Thakurpukur traffic guard reached the spot. They talked to the protesters to control the situation. During this, there was a heated argument between the angry parents and the police and after about four hours the protesters moved away from the road. However, the protesters said that their protest will continue on the decision of the school management.

Notably, the distance of the Central School under Joka Management from Diamond Harbor Road is about 700 meters. According to parents and students, if they do not go inside by car, then the students will have to walk through this route. If the students are left at the gate, then it will be difficult to carry school bags as the school bags are heavy. However, no comment was made on the matter by the school management.

Class 11 student Aman Dutta said, ''The management is charging a fee for taking vehicle inside the school campus. If we do not pay, the management is telling us that we will have to walk inside the school. This is our objection. How will our younger brothers and sisters go to school carrying heavy bags.''

A notice has been put up outside the school regarding car fees, in which an annual fee of three thousand for two-wheelers, five thousand for three-wheelers, six thousand for four-wheelers and ₹1200 for buses has been imposed. That is, parents will have to pay this money to the school if they take their vehicle inside IIM Joka.
