Kolkata, 17 July (H.S.):
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has once again summoned Mathew Samuel for questioning in connection with the Narada Sting Operation Case. He has been asked to appear at the CBI office in Bengaluru on July 29. It is being told that the CBI wants to question him about some facts and documents found in the investigation of the Narada Sting Case.
However, Samuel has again expressed his inability to appear in the CBI office. According to sources, Samuel has informed the central investigating agency that he will not be able to appear in the CBI office this time too. He sayed that he is currently in America to collect news related to the elections in that country. He will remain in America on 29th July also, so it is not possible for him to appear at the CBI office in Bangalore. However, he has definitely said that if the CBI wants, it can interrogate him in Bangalore after returning home.
Notably, the CBI had summoned Samuel to appear in the CBI office located at Nizam Palace in March and April, but he did not appear.
Before the 2016 assembly elections in West Bengal, the emergence of the Narada sting tape created a stir in the political circles. In the sting video (whose authenticity is not confirmed by Hindusthan Samachar), some people connected with politics were shown taking money from representatives of a fictitious company. The sting operation was allegedly conducted by Mathew Samuel of Narada News Portal. The matter reached Calcutta High Court. In March 2017, the High Court ordered a CBI inquiry into the sting operation. Parallel to the CBI, the ED is also investigating the matter.
