30 feet long bridge built on Gandak canal in Siwan district of Bihar collapsed

Patna, June 22 (HS). A 30 feet long bridge built on Gandak canal between Padhera and Garauli villages of Maharajganj subdivision of Siwan district in Bihar collapsed on Saturday. First a pillar of the bridge sank and then the entire bridge sank into the canal. The loud sound coming from the collapse of the bridge created a stir in the area.

There is no report of any casualty in the incident. The video of the collapse of the bridge is also going viral rapidly. This bridge built on Gandak canal was very old. The canal was constructed last year but negligence was shown in building the canal, due to which the soil started eroding from the pillar of the bridge due to the fast flow of water. Due to this, the pillar of the bridge started sinking and within a few minutes the bridge collapsed with a thud. Traffic came to a complete halt due to the collapse of the bridge.

This bridge built on Gandak canal used to connect Patedhi Bazar of Maharajganj block and Ramgarh Panchayat of Daraunda block. Thousands of people used to go from one side to the other with the help of this bridge, but now people will have to cover a long distance even to go to the nearby village.
