Kolkata, 12 February(HS): West Bengal Governor Dr CV Anand Bose returned to Kolkata on Monday morning after cutting short his Bengal Utsav program in Kerala.
After landing at the airport here, he said, ''I want to see the situation in Sandeshkhali with my own eyes, hence I am going there.''
Meanwhile, on the way to Sandeshkhali, a large number of women gathered on both sides and raised slogans against the Governor. These women had placards in their hands on which slogans for releasing funds of MNREGA scheme were written. The women tried to surround the Governor''s convoy near Malanch. Although due to the promptness of the police there was no interference in the convoy, but the Governor had to stop his convoy.
Later, after the intervention of the police, the Governor came out safely from there and reached the spot.
