Mumbai, 12 Feb (HS): Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan has resigned from the party. Although the reason for Chavan’s resignation from the party is not clear, Chavan is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party soon.
Chavan met Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar on Monday and submitted his resignation. He has left the party and also tendered his resignation as MLA.
Ashok Chavan’s resignation is a major blow to the party. Chavan has not made any statement about his joining BJP or any other party.
