New Delhi, 26 December (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute more than 50 lakh property cards under the Swamitva Yojana to property owners in more than 46,000 villages in 200 districts of 10 states and 2 union territories through video conferencing at around 12:30 pm on Friday.
According to the information released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday, the Swamitva Yojana was launched by the Prime Minister with a vision to enhance the economic progress of rural India by providing 'record of rights' to the families owning houses in the villages through the latest survey drone technology.
This scheme also helps in facilitating the monetization of properties and providing institutional credit through bank loans, reducing property disputes, facilitating better assessment of properties and property tax in rural areas and comprehensive village-level planning.
Drone survey has been completed in more than 3.1 lakh villages, covering 92 percent of the targeted villages. So far, about 2.2 crore property cards have been prepared for about 1.5 lakh villages.
This scheme has been fully implemented in Tripura, Goa, Uttarakhand and Haryana. Drone survey has been completed in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and many union territories.
