New Delhi, 26 December (HS): President Droupadi Murmu presented Prime Minister National Bal Puraskar in seven categories to 17 children from 14 states and union territories for their exceptional achievements at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center on Thursday.
Among the honored ones, there are seven boys and 10 girls. The President honored them by giving a medal, certificate and a citation booklet. The youngest award winner in today's ceremony is Master Anish Sarkar of Kolkata, who is in the age group when children are in play school and nursery class. Master Anish has become the youngest chess player in the world to get world ranking.
Fifteen-year-old daughter Hembati Nag's parents have passed away. She comes from the Naxal-affected area of Chhattisgarh. Amidst all the challenges, Hembati has made her mark at the national level in Judo on the strength of her patience, courage and skill.
On this occasion, the President congratulated all the award winners and said that the whole country and society is proud of them. He told the children that they have done extraordinary work, achieved amazing achievements, have immense capabilities and incomparable qualities. They have set an example for the children of the country.
He said that providing opportunities to children and recognizing their talent has been a part of our tradition. He emphasized that this tradition should be strengthened further. He said that in the year 2047, when we celebrate the centenary of India's independence, then these award winners will be enlightened citizens of the country. Such talented boys and girls will become the builders of developed India.
The President said that from the year 2022, this day is celebrated as 'Veer Bal Diwas'. He paid respectful homage to the memory of Sahibzadas on behalf of all the countrymen. Murmu said, I am proud of all of you. Not only me, the whole country, the whole society is proud of all of you. The work you have done is extraordinary. What you have achieved is amazing.”
