New Delhi, 2 December (H.S.):
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Cabinet ministers including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gathered at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium at the Parliament Library Building to watch the Hindi movie ‘The Sabarmati Report’.
The film is based on the Godhra train burning incident of February 27, 2002, which left 59 people, including women and children, dead.
Starring Vikrant Massey, the film portrays the burning of Sabarmati Express train and the protagonist's fight for truth. The movie gained significant attention after PM Modi praised its efforts to reveal the truth. Notably, it has also been watched by many BJP Chief Ministers and has been declared tax-free in several BJP-ruled states in order to encourage more people to watch it.
After watching the film, UP CM Yogi Adityanath congratulated the filmmakers and commended its depiction of the reality of the Godhra train tragedy.
