New Delhi, July 11(HS): The Supreme Court has ordered former Haryana Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhoker to surrender by July 12 in a money laundering case, despite his challenge against a Punjab and Haryana High Court ruling.
Chhoker was arrested by the ED on May 4 in Delhi and claims he was tortured during the arrest. The High Court had previously granted him interim bail for surgery but denied further extensions on health grounds.
During the hearing, his lawyer argued that the ED’s actions violated Article 21 of the Constitution and that Chhoker's health issues warranted bail under Section 45(1) of the money laundering law, but the court dismissed this and upheld the surrender order.
