Guwahati, 29 November (HS): Taking a significant step to promote community welfare and provide compassionate services, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Friday launched the Mukti Rath initiative. Under the aegis of Federal Bank, Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sharaniya flagged off the mortuary van service dedicated to the people of Guwahati at the Nehru Stadium.

Mukti Rath is a free mortuary van facility, which reflects GMC's unwavering commitment to addressing critical needs with sustainable solutions. The initiative underlines the city's resolve to promote a compassionate and supportive environment for its citizens in times of need.

The launch event saw the presence of Deputy Mayor Smita Roy, Commissioner Megh Nidhi Dahal and other dignitaries. Their collective support highlights the collaborative efforts to enhance the city's social infrastructure. Citizens can avail this free service by dialing +91 8811007000.
