Guwahati, 24 November (HS): Reacting to the crushing defeat of Congress candidates in the by-elections held on five assembly seats of Assam, State Congress President Bhupen Kumar Bora has said that he accepts this defeat. He said that victory and defeat are accepted equally in politics.

The Congress President said on Sunday that he would go to every corner to gather all the anti-BJP forces. He said that all the opposing forces will have to work together to defeat the BJP.

Criticizing Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Congress President Bora said that Dr. Sarma was appointed as the election co in-charge in Jharkhand and for the last four months, Dr. Sarma was spending all his time in Jharkhand. Dr. Sarma of Assam had become a part-time Chief Minister during this period. Bora alleged that Dr. Sarma was leaving no stone unturned in spewing the poison of communalism in Jharkhand. Despite this, BJP suffered a crushing defeat in Jharkhand.

He said sarcastically that it was good that Dr. Sarma was not fielded in the elections in Maharashtra. Wherever Dr. Sarma is fielded in the elections, BJP faces a crushing defeat.

The Congress President said that in the coming days, his party leaders will raise public issues with more energy.
