Mainpuri,
20 November (HS): On Wednesday, a 23-year-old Dalit lady was discovered dead
here with her relatives, claiming she was murdered because she refused to vote
for the Samajwadi Party in the Karhal assembly byelection. Police in the
Mainpuri district apprehended two people on Wednesday after they were suspected
of kidnapping and murdering the lady. The woman's father filed a complaint with
Karhal police station, accusing Prashant Yadav, a resident of Tapa ki Nagaria,
of kidnapping his daughter.
According
to the FIR, he said that Yadav stole his daughter at 12 p.m. on Tuesday and
then poisoned her to death with the help of another person named Dr. Mohan
Katheria.
The
woman's corpse was discovered in a field near Kanjara hamlet on Wednesday
morning, authorities said.
Both
the suspects, Dr. Mohan Katheria and Prashant Yadav, identified in the FIR,
have been detained, and additional investigation is underway, according to
Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar. The matter erupted into a political
debate, with the BJP and SP throwing blows. The BJP expressed worry over the
event, accusing the SP of creating an atmosphere of terror in their
heartland.
In
Karhal, Samajwadi Party leader Prashant Yadav and his friends killed a Dait
girl just because she refused to vote for the 'cycle' (the SP's electoral
symbol). The Saifai family and Akhilesh Yadav's thugs are once again attempting
to instill fear in Mainpuri, according to a post on X by the BJP's Uttar
Pradesh branch, which also included a video of the mourning father.
Bhupendra
Singh Chaudhary, the BJP state president, too resorted to social media to
criticize the SP on the subject. Meanwhile, at a news conference in Lucknow, SP
president Akhilesh Yadav said that the Election Commission was turning a blind
eye and deaf ear to his party's complaints over the BJP's alleged use of
government machinery to skew the bypolls in its favor. The BJP, which
frequently participates in similar actions, has orchestrated a scheme to malign
the Samajwadi Party. This has nothing to do with the SP, SP
spokesperson Rajendra Choudhary stated. Separately, the SP criticized the
police for their participation in Karhal during the bypolls.
In
Mainpuri's Karhal assembly constituency, Police Inspector Lalit Bhati is
instilling terror in the name of patrolling with the force, which may influence
voting. The Election Commission should take notice and guarantee fair voting,
the SP wrote on X in Hindi, beside a video of police patrols.
Tej
Pratap Singh, a grandson of party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, is running in
the Karhal by-election against his 'fufa' Anujesh Pratap Singh. The BSP has
fielded Avanish Kumar Shakya. The seat has seven contenders, including nominees
from the Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), Sarvjan Sukhay Party, Sarva Samaj
Janata Party, and one independent.
