New Delhi, November 13 (HS): Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani has given a quick reaction to the Supreme Court's decision to stop the bulldozer action and has welcomed it and called it a victory for the victims. Maulana has said that this decision of the Supreme Court will bring justice to those victims whose houses were demolished by running bulldozers without completing any legal process.

Maulana said that he had taken this matter to the Supreme Court and he had hired the best lawyers to fight this case in the Supreme Court. He told that today the Supreme Court has accepted that demolishing someone's house by running a bulldozer is not a punishment for any crime. The government cannot become a judge and give a decision to demolish someone's house by running a bulldozer. The judiciary will decide whether something is legal or illegal.

The Maulana said that this comment of the court is telling everything. He told that after this decision, there will be no bulldozer action at any place and people's houses will remain safe. The Maulana said that we want that wherever bulldozer action has been taken and houses have been demolished illegally, the governments should give compensation to rebuild all those houses because the people whose houses have collapsed have no fault and they are innocent.

The Supreme Court, giving a strong message against the prevalent tradition of bulldozer justice, today ruled that the government or administration cannot demolish a person's house only on the basis that he is accused or guilty of some crime, and this affects not just one person but the entire house.

The Supreme Court said in its decision that allowing such action is a contempt of the rule of law and also a violation of the principle of separation of powers, because it is the job of the judiciary to decide whether a person is guilty or not. The administration cannot convict a person. If the administration demolishes a person's property on the basis of mere allegations, it will undermine the rule of law.
