New Delhi, 21 October (HS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tribute to the brave police personnel on the occasion of Police Memorial Day.
The Prime Minister posted on Twitter, Today on Police Memorial Day, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of our police personnel. Their unwavering dedication ensures the safety of our people. They are an example of courage and determination. Their active efforts and assistance during humanitarian challenges are equally commendable. It is noteworthy that on 21 October 1959, 10 brave police personnel sacrificed their lives in an ambush by an armed Chinese contingent in the Hot Spring area of Ladakh. October 21 is celebrated as Police Memorial Day in memory of these martyrs and all other policemen who sacrificed their lives during duty.
Honouring the sacrifices made by the police personnel and the exemplary role of the police in maintaining national security and unity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the National Police Memorial at Chanakyapuri (New Delhi) to the nation on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, 2018.
