Ghaziabad, Oct 17 (HS): A father

has been detained for allegedly raping his underage stepdaughters after his

wife filed a complaint, police said on Thursday. In her complaint filed at the

Kavinagar police station, the woman accused her husband of sexually assaulting

both of her underage kids from a previous marriage during the last six months.

The

wife said that she discovered her husband raping her 14-year-old daughter on

Wednesday. The eldest daughter, 16, has accused her stepfather of raping her

several times in recent months. The culprit threatened both girls with terrible

repercussions, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kavinagar), Abhishek

Srivastav. The woman also accused her mother-in-law of assisting her husband,

the officer said.

Police apprehended the accused after filing a

complaint against him under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya

Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,

according to Srivastav. The complaint woman married the accused after she

divorced her first spouse.
