New Delhi, 15 Oct (HS): The Election Commission announced the dates of Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The results of

elections in both the states will be announced on November 23.

Polling in Maharashtra is scheduled to be held on

November 20, while in Jharkhand it will be held in two phases on November 13

and 20.

The notification for the Maharashtra Assembly elections

will be issued on October 22. The last date for filing nomination papers will be

October 29. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on October 30, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 4.

Maharashtra has 288 Assembly seats with 9.62 crore

registered voters including 4.97 male and 4.66 crore female. Those in the 18 – 20 age

group are 1.85 crores. The youth in the 18-19 age group who would vote for the

first time is 20.93 lakh.
