75th Republic Day Celebration at Dar es Salaam

Dar es Salaam(Tanzania), 26 January (H.S): The Indian diaspora took part in large numbers on the occasion of the 75th year of Republic Day celebrations at the Indian High Commission premises at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa today.

Manoj B Verma, Chargé d'affaires, High Commission of India to Tanzania, unfurled the national tri-colour flag to a rousing applause of the colourful traditionally attired Indian Diaspora.

The patriotic, heartwarming rendering of the national anthem Jana Gana Mana by the students of Indian School, was a testimony of the national spirit of everyone at the venue.

The day also marked the inauguration of the India-Tanzania Friendship Exhibition at the National Museum of Tanzania held under the aegis of the High Commission of India, ICCR and The National Museum of Tanzania.

This specially curated exhibition is a collaborative effort of not only the stakeholders but also the active participation of some of the most distinguished members from the Indian diaspora with deep roots in Tanzania over the years. Each of the exhibits displayed here has a story to tell, said Dr Soumya Manjunath Chavan, Director, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre SVCC Dar es Salaam, in her introductory remarks.

India and Tanzania have had great bilateral socio-economic and cultural relationships and have come a long way over the years. The exhibition is a reflection of the collaborated co-existence of Indian and Tanzanian communities. The fact that we have strategic partnerships in overall development in key areas indicates the trust, scope, vision and commitment of the two nations. This exhibition is bound to remind the millennials about the legacy of the two nations and is aimed at strengthening the bond of friendship between the two countries said Manoj B Verma, Chargé d'affaires, High Commission of India to Tanzania during his speech.

Dignitaries of the Tanzanian Government from various departments graced the occasion. A fusion musical presentation by Music Teachers of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre SVCC Dar es Salaam enthralled one and all.
