New Delhi, September 26 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised India's diplomatic and scientific achievements and said that India's diplomacy has reached new heights in the last 30 days. Due to India's efforts, six more countries have joined the BRICS community.
The Prime Minister was addressing the G20 University Connect finale programme at Bharat Mandapam today. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also released four books related to India's G20 presidency. Addressing the programme, the Prime Minister presented the report card for the last 30 days. He said that in the last 30 days, more than 1 lakh youth have been given central government jobs through the employment fair. The bill regarding women's reservation was passed in the new Parliament House, which filled the country with pride. Many initiatives were taken to empower the SC, ST, OBC, poor, and middle class. The government launched the PM Vishwakarma Yojana for artisans.
He lauded the successful launch of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which made India the fourth country to land on the Moon. Modi said that on August 23, when it was announced that India is on the moon, the whole world heard the voice of India. He said that a look at the developments of the last 30 days reveals the speed and scale of the new India.
The Prime Minister said that the world is surprised by the level at which India hosted the G20, but I am not surprised because when youth like you take on the responsibility of making an event successful, it becomes successful. Modi congratulated the youth for making the G20 summit hosted by India two weeks ago a vibrant and successful event. He said that we could have limited the G20 presidency to a diplomatic and Delhi-centric affair. However, India made it a people-driven national movement.
He said the consensus on the Delhi Declaration made global headlines. Some decisions of the G20 have the potential to change the direction of the 21st century. He also said that Saudi Arabia is going to invest $100 billion in India. The Prime Minister said that he has held meetings with 85 world leaders in the last 30 days. He said that in today's polarised international environment, it is no small thing for so many countries to come together on one platform. He urged the youth to take inspiration from India's achievements and work towards building a better future for the country and the world. Youth can progress only where there is optimism, opportunity, and openness, Modi said.
The Prime Minister said that today, we (India) are the fastest-growing economy in the world. In record time, we advanced from tenth to fifth largest economy in the world. He claimed that he would take India to the third position. Clean, clear, and stable governance is essential to continuing the development journey.
Taking aim at the opposition, he said, I am surprised that these days I am being accused that Modi is sending people to jail. You tell me, where should a person who steals the country's property go? He should be in jail, but some people are upset about it.
Urging the youth to join the cleanliness campaign, UPI, and Vocal for Local campaign, the Prime Minister said that nothing of mine is personal; whatever is there belongs to the country. He said that a programme related to cleanliness is going to be organised across the country on October 1, a day before the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Youth should participate enthusiastically in this. Apart from this, teach UPI transactions to at least 7 people in a week. The Prime Minister made the third request regarding local votes. He said that whatever purchase is made during festivals, it should be made in India.
It is noteworthy that the G20 University Connect initiative was launched with the aim of creating understanding of India's G20 Presidency among the youth of India and increasing their participation in various G20 events. More than one lakh students from various universities across the country participated in this programme.
On this occasion, 3000 students, faculty members, and vice chancellors of partner universities were present in Bharat Mandapam. Students from across the country also joined this programme live.
