Ahmedabad/Puri, June 20 (HS): Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra is celebrated all over the country today. The country's second-largest Rath Yatra after the Puri Rath Yatra of Odisha takes place at the Lord Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur, Ahmedabad. union Home Minister Amit Shah performed Mangala Aarti with his family after reaching the Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur, the capital of his home state of Gujarat.

The rath yatra started here at seven in the morning. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel started the Rath Yatra by performing Pahinda Vidhi. Before this, at 4:30 in the morning, God's khichda was done. At 6:30, the idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra were placed in the chariot.

Puri: The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath has started here too. The Lord will visit the Gundicha temple with his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra. This is believed to be his aunt's house. About 25 lakh people are expected to participate in this Rath Yatra. It is also called the Gundicha Yatra. God was woken up at four in the morning. Shringar, Aarti, and Khichdi Bhog were offered. All three chariots were worshipped outside the temple.

Lord Jagannath is expected to reach the Gundicha temple by around 6 p.m. today. There, the Lord would stay for seven days with his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra. After this, according to the Panchang, they will return to the temple on the tenth day of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month, i.e., June 28. This journey back to the temple is called the Bahuda Yatra.
