G-20 meeting to provide guidance to fight against corruption: Ajay Bhatt

Rishikesh, 25 May (HS): Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt said that the brainstorms emanating from the second Anti Corruption Working Group meeting held at Devbhoomi Uttarakhand will guide the world in fighting the fight against corruption. For this, international cooperation and solidarity is very necessary to end corruption at the global-level.

Bhatt, during an informal interaction with the media on Thursday on the occasion of the launch of the second Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting of G-20 at Hotel Westin in Narendra Nagar, Tehri, Uttarakhand, said that it is a matter of good luck to organise the meeting in Dev Bhoomi. In this meeting, efforts to control corruption at the global-level are being discussed, which will guide the world in the fight against corruption.

Corruption is an international problem, so coordinated efforts are needed to eliminate it. The side effects of corruption are also widespread, therefore there is a need to strengthen the institutional framework in the fight against corruption. The use of IT is necessary to eliminate corruption in the public sector.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had discussed nine points regarding the fight against corruption in the G-20 meeting held in Argentina in the year 2018. The discussion on these points will be carried forward in the current G-20 and the G-20 to be held in the future.

More than 90 representatives of 20 member countries, 10 invited countries and 9 international organisations are discussing in the first meeting of the ACWG during this three-day event.
