New Delhi, 18 January (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the second phase of Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23 being organized in Basti district through video conferencing. Sansad Khel Mahakumbh is being organized from 2021 by Harish Dwivedi, Lok Sabha MP from Basti in Basti district.

Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23 is being organized in two phases. The first phase of Khel Mahakumbh was organized from December 10 to December 16, 2022, and the second phase will be organized from January 18 to January 28, 2023.

In this Khel Mahakumbh, various competitions are organized in both indoor and outdoor sports events like wrestling, kabaddi, kho kho, basketball, football, hockey, volleyball, handball, chess, carrom, badminton, table tennis etc. Apart from these, competitions like essay writing, painting, making Rangoli etc. are also organized during this Khel Mahakumbh.

This Khel Mahakumbh is a unique initiative which provides an opportunity and platform to the youth of District Basti and surrounding areas to showcase their sporting talent and motivate them to adopt sports as a career option. It also strives to inculcate the spirit of discipline, team spirit, healthy competition, self-confidence and nationalism among the youth of the region.
