Kerala: Three SDPI extremists arrested in Sanjeeth murder case

Thiruvananthapuram, 22 November(HS): Eight days after the gruesome murder of RSS activist Sanjeeth (27) of Palakkad in Kerala, the investigating team has picked up three persons, all believed to be hardcore SDPI extremists in connection with the incident.

Those who have been taken into custody are Subair, Salam and Ishaq, three Islamic brethren believed to be working for the establishment of an Islamic Caliphate. But the police are tight-lipped about the details of the three who were being questioned in connection with Sanjeeth’s murder.

While Subair hails from Mundakkayam, Kerala’s high ranges in the Eastern side, the other two are believed to be from the Palakkad district. It is not known whether those who have been taken into custody were the persons involved in the murder or they are decoys planted by the SDPI to weaken the investigation and to subvert the probe process.

There has been widespread criticism against the Kerala Government and the police for the lackadaisical investigation into the murder of Sanjeeth. Suresh Gopi, a Member of Rajya Sabha who called on the family members of the deceased on Sunday had said that the police would have to give a detailed explanation for the murder and the lopsided probe as it had failed to make any breakthrough in nabbing the accused.
