
Kathmandu, September 07 (H.S.): US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by telephone with Ravi Lamichhane, president of Nepal's ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), on Monday and expressed condolences over the loss of life and property in the devastating floods, conveying solidarity with the Government of Nepal. Rubio said the United States was prepared to provide additional assistance to Nepal, which has been severely affected by the floods.
According to the RSP, Rubio expressed grief over the loss of lives in the floods and conveyed solidarity with the people of Nepal and the Nepalese government during this difficult time. He reiterated that the United States was ready to extend additional assistance to Nepal.
During the conversation, Lamichhane said his party was making every possible effort to support the government's ongoing search, rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas. He assured Rubio that Nepal remained committed to ensuring the safety and protection of foreign nationals affected by the recent floods.
Lamichhane also expressed gratitude to the US government for the assistance and support it had provided during the disaster.
