Kathmandu, September 07 (H.S.): Nepal President Ram Chandra Paudel visited various areas of Nuwakot district affected by the Bhotekoshi floods and took stock of the situation on the ground. During the visit, the District Disaster Management Committee briefed President Paudel on the ongoing search and rescue operations, relief distribution, management of holding centres and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas.

Chief District Officer Shambhu Prasad Regmi and other members of the committee apprised the President of the loss of life and property caused by the floods in the district. Regmi also briefed him on the measures being undertaken for search and rescue operations, distribution of relief materials, rehabilitation of affected communities and immediate reconstruction.

President Paudel also inspected a holding centre set up at the covered hall in Ward No. 2 of Bidur Municipality. There, he met flood-affected people from Rasuwa and Nuwakot who had taken shelter at the centre.

During the interaction, the affected people apprised the President of the extensive damage and devastation caused by the catastrophic Bhotekoshi floods. They urged the government and concerned agencies to expedite search and rescue operations, relief distribution and rehabilitation efforts, while also strengthening preparedness and response mechanisms to deal with similar disasters in the future.
