Washington, 04 September (H.S.): US Vice President JD Vance said there is no timeline for the end of the war with Iran, asserting that bringing the conflict to an end depends on Iran. He said the confrontation, which began with joint US-Israeli airstrikes six months ago, could be brought to an end by Iran. Vance also said the current confrontation should not even be described as a “war” because “active fighting” ended months ago.

According to a CNN report, Vance made the remarks about the Iran war during an event at the White House on Thursday. Vance said there are currently no talks taking place with the Iranians. He said, “The President’s position is absolutely clear. We are not talking to Iran, and we will not talk to them until they stop firing on commercial vessels.”

In response to a question, Vance could not say whether the conflict would end before the elections scheduled for November 3. He said, “When you ask me when the war will end, you are asking me the same question as when the Iranians will stop firing on ships. I think the reality is that I do not know the answer to that question. You will have to ask the Iranians.”

The Vice President also could not say when gas prices might come down. He said, “I am not going to promise when the price will come down. I will simply say that we need to remember why we are doing this. First and foremost, it is being done so that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.”

Vance addressed reporters in the White House briefing room, which had not been used by the administration for 42 days. He spoke with journalists for nearly an hour and answered a wide range of questions, covering everything from the ongoing dispute with Iran to his recent weight loss.
