Kathmandu, 30 September (H.S.): Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has said Prime Minister Balen Shah will visit India at an appropriate time, although no formal date has yet been fixed for the visit.

Speaking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Wednesday after returning from the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Khanal said India had formally invited Prime Minister Shah to visit the country soon after the formation of the new government.

“We have been saying from the beginning that the Prime Minister received an invitation from India immediately after the government was formed, and we have taken it positively. We are preparing for a result-oriented visit at an appropriate opportunity,” Khanal said.

Asked about the likely date of the India visit, the Foreign Minister said it would be formally announced after consultations and mutual agreement between the two countries.

“As of today, it has not been decided when the visit will take place, but both sides want the visit to be as fruitful and result-oriented as possible,” he said.
