MOSCOW, September 25 (HS/RIA Novosti) - A Ukrainian man who stabbed a priest to death and wounded four other people in Poland this week had served with the Ukrainian armed forces, a source familiar with the investigation told RIA Novosti.

It has already been established that this 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen previously served with the Ukrainian armed forces, the source said.

The Ukrainian was detained on Thursday after stabbing five people, including three priests, at the Benedictine Abbey in the southeastern Polish town of Jaroslaw. One of them died in a hospital, while two others are in life-threatening condition.

The source said that the Ukrainian was traveling from Germany to Ukraine through Poland. His motives for the attack are not clear. He will undergo a psychiatric examination, the source said.
