Kathmandu, 25 September (H.S.): Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has pledged that Australia will stand with the people of Nepal in rebuilding the country following the devastating floods.

Albanese made the commitment after meeting Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah in New York on Friday on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Australian leader expressed solidarity with Nepal as it recovers from the disaster and discussed continued assistance for relief and reconstruction.

After the meeting, Albanese wrote on his Facebook page, “As Nepal recovers from catastrophic floods and devastation, Australia stands with its people as they rebuild and grieve.” He added, “We’ll keep working with Nepal to get help where it’s needed most.”

Albanese also expressed sympathy for the families and loved ones of Australian citizens who remain missing following the disaster. He briefed Prime Minister Shah on Australia’s assistance to Nepal and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to working closely with Nepal to provide further support as required.
