Dhaka, 20 September (H.S.): At least four home-made bombs exploded in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area on Saturday evening, injuring one person. Two more home-made bombs subsequently exploded at Kamalapur Railway Station. Jatrabari Police Station Inspector (Operations) Khalid Hasan confirmed the incidents.

According to reports by The Daily Star and Dhaka Tribune, four home-made bombs exploded in front of Samad Super Market in Jatrabari at around 7:40 p.m. A person was injured in the incident. The injured man has been identified as 32-year-old rickshaw driver Bilal.

Following the incident, two home-made bombs exploded at Kamalapur Railway Station. Dhaka Railway Police Superintendent Nikulin Chakma said the explosions occurred at around 10:30 p.m. near the far end of Platform No. 2. No casualties were reported in the incident. The latest explosions occurred a day after reports of a series of home-made bomb blasts at several locations across Dhaka.

Meanwhile, three buses were set on fire at different locations in the capital on Saturday evening. Two buses were targeted in Mirpur, while another bus was set ablaze in Badda. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police said security had been tightened across the city following incidents reported on Friday and Saturday. More than 200 checkpoints have been established on major roads and at entry points into the city.

Niaz Mehdi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Public Relations and Media Wing, said security measures had been strengthened. Searches and surveillance have been intensified at key locations. During the security operation, 515 people were arrested.
