Kathmandu, 02 September (H.S.): China has fully reopened the land route leading to the Kerung border crossing from Nepal’s Rasuwagadhi as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday. With the restoration of the road link, rescue personnel, relief supplies, equipment and heavy machinery will now be able to reach the main disaster-affected areas by road. According to Chinese state media, this will facilitate large-scale relief and rescue operations in the affected areas.
According to the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, the final stretch of the road, which had been disrupted due to water, has been temporarily restored. This has also enabled the movement of heavy machinery.
Heavy machinery deployed to clear the national highway in the main disaster-affected section of the Kerung border area has reached close to the original location of the Kerung border crossing building on the Chinese side.
