VLADIVOSTOK, September 2 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio may meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

If necessary, [Lavrov and Rubio] hold face-to-face, personal meetings. So this is not ruled out, Zakharova said in an interview on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.

She also noted that contacts between the ministers have become stable, and the parties understand the need to maintain communication.

The parties understand that it is necessary to maintain [contact] and regularly coordinate their views on the situation around Ukraine. Of course, they also discuss bilateral issues and various aspects of the international agenda, Zakharova said.

According to her, Lavrov and Rubio communicate by phone and hold in-person meetings when necessary.
