Kathmandu, 17 September (H.S.): A total of 191 vehicles affiliated with the Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs have been damaged or swept away following the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Nepal’s Rasuwa district on August 26. As many as 344 people, including drivers, co-drivers and passengers of these vehicles, remain missing.

According to Federation General Secretary Dek Nath Gautam, vehicles belonging to nine transport companies from across the country were affected by the floods. Nineteen buses, one mini-truck, two jeeps and four containers belonging to Nepal Araniko Transport Service Pvt. Ltd. were swept away, while 50 workers are missing.

Similarly, 19 buses belonging to Pasang Lhamu Transport Pvt. Ltd., Balaju, and 21 people are missing. Two drivers of Bhaktapur New Vision Transport Pvt. Ltd. are also missing after two of the company’s containers were buried under debris.

Four trucks, 16 containers and one Sumo vehicle belonging to Himalayan Transport Company were swept away, while 10 drivers remain missing. Meanwhile, seven tippers, 22 containers, 23 trucks and one trailer belonging to the Nepal Tipper and Truck Entrepreneurs Committee were buried under flood debris, with 45 drivers reported missing.

Fifty-nine trucks and containers belonging to Narayani Transport Entrepreneurs Company Pvt. Ltd. were swept away, while 70 people remain missing. Nine microbuses belonging to Nepal Micro Company were also caught in the floods.

Similarly, a bus belonging to the Prithvi Highway Operators Company was damaged, leaving one driver and 22 passengers missing. A bus belonging to Dhading Transport Pvt. Ltd. was swept away, with one driver and 25 pilgrims who were travelling on board reported missing.
