Quetta, 11 September (H.S.):
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a pro-independence armed organisation in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, has released a video of the attacks carried out on September 3 against the Pakistan Army and a construction company at Ziarat Cross in Pishin. The video was released on the BLA’s official channel, Hakal.
The opening scenes of the video show commanders of the BLA’s prominent unit, the Fateh Squad, in military formation and discipline. The commanders are shown carrying sophisticated weapons and wearing distinctive uniforms.
According to a report broadcast by The Balochistan Post on September 10, the seven-minute video shows the commanders using heavy weapons and rockets to target a convoy of the Pakistan Army. The video also shows the bodies of army personnel. According to the BLA, the Fateh Squad targeted a Pakistan Army convoy at Ziarat Cross in Pishin on September 3.
During the attack, four vehicles belonging to the Killa Saifullah Scouts and FC 134 Wing were targeted. Two vehicles, including an army truck, were destroyed in the attack. According to the BLA, 18 Pakistani Army personnel were killed and all their weapons were seized.
The BLA further claimed that it subsequently took control of a construction company’s site at Khanibaba, near Ziarat Cross, and destroyed 14 pieces of heavy machinery along with vehicles. The Pakistan Army has confirmed both incidents.
