MOSCOW, August 6 (HS/RIA Novosti) - US President Donald Trump said that the United States has massive stockpiles of munitions amid reports of shortages.

The Washington Post reported earlier, citing sources, that Trump demanded an explanation from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth for a missile shortage during a cabinet meeting in Camp David earlier this week. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later dismissed the report as false.

The U.S. has massive amounts of 'munitions,' especially of certain types. Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed, Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He added that the leakers of these treasonous statements could face lengthy prison sentences.

On June 24, the White House requested Congress for $87.6 billion in supplemental funding, including $67.15 billion for the Pentagon. Most of the package focuses on covering costs related to the US military campaign against Iran.

In late July, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS, recognized as an undesirable organization in Russia) estimated that the United States had spent over 1,500 missiles for Patriot air defense systems and 200 interceptors for Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) air defense systems, thus facing a significant shortage of missiles.
