Kathmandu, 30 August (H.S.): The bodies of 768 people who lost their lives in the floods triggered by the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa have been recovered, while around 2,500 people are reported to remain unaccounted for.

According to the Nepal Police, a total of 768 bodies had been recovered across the affected areas as of 4 p.m. on Sunday. Chitwan recorded the highest number, with 264 bodies recovered. This was followed by East Nawalparasi with 194, West Nawalparasi with 100, Gorkha with 58, Nuwakot with 52, Dhading with 50, Tanahun with 37 and Rasuwa with 13 bodies.

Police said 2,715 injured people and others stranded in the disaster-hit areas have so far been rescued.

Meanwhile, 160 injured people who had been receiving treatment at various hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley have been discharged and returned home.
