MOSCOW, August 27 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Swiss elites understand that the theft of frozen Russian assets will destroy Switzerland's reputation as a safe haven for investors, the Russian Embassy in Bern told RIA Novosti.

Swiss elites are well aware that the theft of Russian assets will completely destroy Switzerland's reputation as a 'safe haven' for foreign investors, the embassy said.

It said high-ranking Swiss officials, including Finance Minister Karin Keller-Sutter, have repeatedly stated that confiscating frozen Russian assets in Switzerland is unacceptable.

Although such ideas are occasionally voiced in the local media, the Swiss authorities have not yet undertaken such attempts, the embassy responded when asked whether Swiss authorities had attempted to confiscate frozen Russian financial assets or real estate.
