MOSCOW, August 27 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Russia wants to reverse Western sanctions by creating alternative mechanisms for foreign economic cooperation, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Alexander Trofimov told RIA Novosti in an interview.
It is important to remember: this is not about simply mitigating the negative consequences of the sanctions imposed by our enemies against us or our partners. Through the creation of alternative mechanisms for foreign economic cooperation, we must achieve a systemic reversal of the effect of unilateral coercive measures, Trofimov said.
He said sanctions are effective only to the extent that the targets of pressure are interested in maintaining their place in the coordinate system established and controlled by the West and are willing to respect its existing rules and standards.
Much progress is being made in this direction, primarily thanks to the prompt work, responsible economic policy, and systemic decisions of the Russian government. Domestic entrepreneurs are successfully developing innovative mechanisms for cooperation with foreign partners, Trofimov said.
Russia has repeatedly stated that it will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to intensify. Moscow has noted that the West lacks the courage to acknowledge the failure of sanctions against Russia. Western countries themselves have repeatedly expressed the view that the sanctions are ineffective.
