Kathmandu, 26 August (H.S.): Nepal Home Minister Sudan Gurung has urged residents living along the riverbanks to immediately move to safer locations following a major flood surge in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa after water flowed in from the Tibetan side.

In an urgent public notice issued by the Home Minister, authorities said riverbank areas along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers up to Muglin remain at high risk and require heightened vigilance. Families living along the riverbanks in Rasuwa, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan and Nuwakot districts have therefore been advised to move to safer locations and remain there until further instructions.

The notice said that anyone requiring search and rescue operations or any form of emergency assistance should immediately contact the toll-free number 1234.

The Home Minister also urged people to avoid travelling on the Prithvi Highway–Galchhi–Nuwakot–Rasuwa–Syafrubesi road as well as the Muglin–Narayangarh road, and called for traffic on these routes to be suspended completely.

In view of the flood threat, the government has urged residents of riverbank areas to exercise extreme caution and strictly follow the safety instructions issued by the authorities.
