MOSCOW, August 24 (HS/RIA Novosti) - The US and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and the lack of response from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have weakened the nuclear non-proliferation regime, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Unfortunately, this event was not directly condemned by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). We and the international community are concerned about the weakening of the international non-proliferation regime, Jalali said.
The ambassador noted that the US and Israel as two nuclear powers attacked facilities under international safeguards in a non-nuclear state.
The US and Israel struck several Iranian nuclear facilities during the June 2025 conflict. Moreover, Iranian nuclear facilities were also attacked during the latest escalation, which began in late February 2026. Tehran blamed the US for the strikes.
