MOSCOW, August 24 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated on Monday Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the victory of the ruling Adilet party in the first-ever elections to Kazakhstan's unicameral parliament, according to a corresponding telegram published on the Kremlin's website.

Earlier in the day, Chair of the Kazakh Central Election Commission Nurlan Abdirov said that Kazakhstan's largest party Adilet received 71.17% of votes in the elections to the new unicameral parliament of the republic, the kurultai.

Dear Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich, please accept my congratulations on the victory of the ruling Adilet party in the first-ever elections to Kazakhstan's unicameral parliament — the kurultai, the telegram read.

The election results in Kazakhstan confirm the support for course pursued under Tokayev's leadership, Putin noted.

I have no doubt that the deputies of the Kurultai will work fruitfully with Russian lawmakers in the interests of further strengthening the relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between our states, Putin added.

The Russian President wished Tokayev and the new elected lawmakers success in their work, and wished the fraternal people of Kazakhstan well-being and prosperity.
