MOSCOW, August 24 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar discussed the development of India-Russia relations, including cooperation in fertilizers and nuclear energy, during their meeting in the Kremlin on Monday.

Jaishankar conveyed greetings and a message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Putin during the meeting.

Let me convey to you a big greeting from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jaishankar said, adding that the Indian prime minister had given him a message to convey to the Russian president.

Putin, in turn, asked Jaishankar to convey his best wishes to Modi and said he expected to meet the Indian prime minister in the near future during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

I hope to see him [Modi] in the near future, as we planned, as part of the work of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Putin said.

Our schedule is such that we can probably see each other again this year, he added.

Jaishankar said Modi was looking forward to meeting Putin at the SCO summit in Kyrgyzstan, as well as at the BRICS summit.

The talks also focused on practical areas of bilateral cooperation. Jaishankar said he would discuss cooperation between New Delhi and Moscow in nuclear energy and fertilizer supplies.

Putin said Russia was ready to further increase fertilizer supplies to India to meet the requirements of Indian agriculture.

We are doing everything to close this issue for Indian farmers and agriculture, we are increasing these supplies and we are ready to do this further, Putin said.

The Russian president also highlighted the broad scope of bilateral ties, saying Russia and India continue to cooperate in almost all areas, including at the government and interparliamentary levels as well as through economic participants.

I am very glad to see you, Mr. Minister. Your visit today highlights the level of relations that have developed between Russia and India for decades. We continue to work in almost all areas, Putin said.

Putin also noted growth in trade between Russia and India in 2026.

The meeting comes amid continued high-level engagement between Moscow and New Delhi and ahead of the expected meetings between Putin and Modi at upcoming multilateral summits.
