
Kathmandu, 23 August (H.S.):
Security officials from the border districts of Nepal and India have agreed to expand the scope of joint patrols and regularly exchange information related to border crimes to strengthen security along the international boundary.
The agreement was reached at a coordination meeting of security officials from Nepal and India held at Jaleshwar, the district headquarters of Mahottari. The meeting discussed measures to control and prevent cross-border crimes, including the smuggling of weapons and narcotics and human trafficking. The officials also discussed the protection and maintenance of border pillars.
Sanjay Kumar Pokharel, Assistant Chief District Officer of Mahottari, said the officials agreed not only to expand joint patrols in the border areas of the two countries but also to share information about incidents and criminal activities occurring along the frontier.
According to Pokharel, the primary objective of the meeting was to further strengthen mutual coordination and cooperation between the security agencies of the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Mahottari Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav, Sarlahi Chief District Officer Vijayaraj Subedi, Rautahat Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar, Sitamarhi District Magistrate Tanay Sultanias, Sitamarhi Superintendent of Police Amit Ranjan, and other security officials from both Nepal and India.
