SIMFEROPOL, August 21 (HS/RIA Novosti) - The Zaporozhye (Zaporizhzhia) Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is staying without external power supply for over a day, and the safety parameters maintained thanks to operation of diesel generators, ZNPP communications director Yevgenia Yashina told RIA Novosti on Friday.

On Thursday, the plant said that it switched to backup power supply from diesel generators due to loss of external power supply. The ZNPP's high-voltage external power supply Ferrosplavnaya-1 line was damaged and thus shut down by the automation system.

The station's external power supply line remains de-energized... The station has been operating on backup diesel generators for more than a day now, ensuring the safety of its operation, Yashina said.

No disruptions to the security systems have been recorded, the representative added.

The damage to the line is located on the right-bank part of the Dnieper, on the Ukrainian side, Yashina said.

The plant has no information about the time frame for repair and restoration works, the official added.
