
MOSCOW, August 19 (HS/RIA Novosti) - The past year has seen a record level of violence against aid workers, with 907 people killed, wounded or kidnapped, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a report published on Wednesday.
In particular, 350 aid workers were killed, 322 were wounded and 235 were kidnapped in 2025, the report showed.
The deadliest context for the third year in a row was Gaza, with 186 aid workers killed, followed by Sudan with 71, the report said.
Meanwhile, 82 aid workers have been killed, 97 injured and 39 kidnapped worldwide since the beginning of 2026, according to the report.
August 19 marks World Humanitarian Day. The UN said that all countries are obligated to comply with international humanitarian law to ensure the protection and unimpeded operation of humanitarian missions.
