
Kathmandu, 18 August (H.S.):
Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth, who is on an official visit to Nepal, offered prayers and performed special religious rituals at the renowned Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu on Tuesday morning.
Upon his arrival at the temple, General Dhiraj Seth was welcomed by the Member Secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust and other officials of the trust. After entering the temple premises, he offered prayers and paid obeisance to Lord Pashupatinath, performing the rituals in accordance with traditional practices.
During his visit, General Dhiraj Seth performed Rudrabhishek, a ceremonial ritual involving the consecration of the Shiva lingam, as part of the special prayers that lasted for around an hour. He worshipped Lord Pashupatinath and participated in the religious ceremonies at the temple.
His visit to the Pashupatinath Temple during his Nepal tour is being regarded as significant from both religious and cultural perspectives. India and Nepal share centuries-old religious and cultural ties, with the Pashupatinath Temple serving as an important centre of faith for devotees from both countries.
General Dhiraj Seth is visiting Nepal on a four-day official tour at the invitation of Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff, Maharathi Ashok Raj Sigdel. During the visit, he has participated in various engagements with the Nepalese Army focusing on bilateral military ties, defence cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
