
Guwahati, 14 August (HS): Assam is set to emerge as an important hub in India's expanding space infrastructure, with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) planning an ₹81.82-crore Satellite Earth Station campus near the Ledo Airstrip in Tinsukia district.
The project is more than an addition to the country's satellite network. For Northeast India, where difficult terrain and frequent natural disasters can disrupt conventional communication systems, the facility could provide a crucial technological backbone for connectivity, weather monitoring and emergency response.
Designed for completion within 730 days, the Earth Station is expected to strengthen the region's link with India's satellite communication network.
